"Don't talk like that, the Thalmor are not going to kill you." Fenris told her in a serious tone. The Dunmer was rarely ever serious, most of the time he loved to joke around and laugh about things, so to see him acting serious for once was rather rare. "They will have to get through an army of angry atronachs and what ever else I can conjure up. The Thalmor will not get to you or your new friend as long as I live."

"I appreciate it. Still, I would rather be safe than sorry and you are a more than capable mage. Promise me that if something happens to me, you will take over my position as Arch-Mage. Please, Fenris." The Altmer was a little surprised at the usually jolly Dunmer's sudden seriousness. Still, she wanted him to promise her that, give her that security. "Do not get me wrong, if they do somehow best me, I will take plenty of them to the grave before I go. I just want that peace of mind. I want to know that if it comes down to it, I can give my life for what I believe in and know that the College will go on."

Annalynn's persistence on him becoming the Arch-Mage if she died made his head spin. Fenris just couldn't bring himself to say yes just yet, since it was basically acknowledging the possibility that she could possibly be killed for this information on the Blades. He stood there, leaning on his Staff of Revenants for support as his mulled over what he was supposed to do.
"I-If that is your wish.... I will do it..." he replied, glancing down at the ground. "Just promise me that if you leave the College grounds, you take somebody with you."

"If not a mage, then an atronach." She agreed, hoping to ease her friend's mind. She walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I promise you though, I have no intentions of letting them best me. I have to many good connections for them to try me right now. Attacking me at the College is foolish, confronting me in Solitude would get them killed, there is always risk of dragons, and with my magic skill, they would not have an easy time. You can relax, dear." She knew that this was a lot to take in, so she wanted him to know that she was not giving in. Maybe that would ease him.

Fenris chuckled and nodded his head. It still didn't ease his mind entirely... but he wasn't going to keep pestering his friend about it further. Keeping her locked away in the College would have been the easiest thing to do... but that would have been incredibly unfair to her.
"Then I will send my strongest Atronach with you whenever you leave Winterhold." Fenris said with a smile, "So... when do I get to meet this new mystery man?"

She gave a chuckle when he asked about meeting her Bosmer friend. "I don't know. Perhaps you and I could could arrange to meet him somewhere. I'm sure he wouldn't mind." Annalynn said started back towards the College. "Come, let us write a letter. A courier should be by soon anyway."

Fenris followed the Arch-Mage when she headed back up towards the College. He was rather eager to get out of the cold so he quickened his pace. The Dunmer didn't want to say it, but he wanted to make sure that the Bosmer wasn't just toying with Annalynn. That was the last thing a broken heart needed...
"I know you two just met, but do you think he is somebody you might want to settle down with and possibly have children?" Fenris asked. He was very curious about what her thoughts for the future where. The dark elf often thought about his future, but he still wasn't sure of what he wanted even though he had been married for a long time.

A blush crossed her face when Fenris mentioned settling down and having children. "Well, he is certainly a kind, charming, handsome man. I certainly wouldn't mind it." She chuckled, her mind wandering back to the burly Wood Elf for a moment. "I'm surprised you and Sovali haven't had a child yet."

When Annalynn mentioned him and Sovali not having children, Fenris was rather unsure of what to say. Fenris definitely wanted children, but he didn't know what Sovali wanted. The two never really ever talked about it...
"I'm not too sure that Sovali wants any children..." Fenris told her, "She certainly never talks about it at least..."

"Oh that girl is always so focused on helping others, its surprising to me when she talks about anything else." The Arch-Mage laughed. "Fenris dear, you are just going to have to ask her about it. Otherwise you'll never hear anything of it. If it would be easier, I could ask her. Then it'd me more of a woman to woman curiosity thing."

Fenris didn't really want to be cowardly and not ask Sovali on his own... but he wasn't sure if he wanted to ask unless he knew that she was at least open to the possibility. The Dunmer was curious to know what his wife would say to Annalynn if she asked instead of him. Conversations were quite a bit different between different people, and it seemed like it was easier to be honest with a friend since the emotional investment wasn't as big in most cases.
"If you want to ask her about it.... you're certainly free to," Fenris chuckled, "I mean, i'll talk to her about it eventually... but i'm just afraid that she shoot me down without thinking about it."

"Sovali wouldn't dream of shooting you down, dear. That much I'm sure of." Annalynn said, smiling at her friend. "She loves you too much to do that. However, I will ask her and relay the answer to you privately. That why you can ask of your own sometime without fear. Deal?"

Fenris smiled at Annalynn, she was such a good and reliable friend. He wasn't sure if it was the best way to go about finding out what he wanted to know... but nothing else seemed like it would work. If Sovali didn't want kids, then Fenris would know not to bring it up. But if it was the opposite.... he would be all too excited to bring it up.
"Deal," Fenris said with a smile, "I just don't want to bring it up to her if she's not comfortable talking about it, you know what I mean? I love kids, but I love Sovali more and I don't want to ruin that by bringing up a subject that she doesn't want to talk about."

"I understand. I won't even act like you wanted to know, which should be easy since I too am curious of her answer." She said happily as they walked into Winterhold. "I can only imagine how cute that child would be. And it would be a luck one too, having parents like you and Sovali. If I am half the person either of you are, I am doing good."

Fenris smiled and put his staff over his shoulder since he didn't need it at the moment. Winterhold always seemed so magical, even if half the buildings were burnt down and the locals that lived there hated anybody that even looked at the College. There was something so wonderful about the way the snow drifted down and blanketed everything in sight that made the Dunmer happy. It just seemed so peaceful compared to the rest of the war torn world.
"You're far too hard on yourself, Annalynn," Fenris told her, "You are one of the most wonderful people that I know. The Bosmer is a very lucky man." Then Fenris chuckled when he thought about he and Sovali having children, "We would have adorable kids, wouldn't we? They would be spoiled rotten for sure."
