"Just like I remember it." The usually cocky Legate said as she killed the last of the bandits that had taken up residence in the ruins of Helgan. She remembered this place all to well. A war with the rebellion was one thing, but to execute them with a fair trial? She almost had her General's head for that. What was worse is that she had been put in charge of the execution. If she hadn't know it would have disgraced her foster parents, she would have killed her General.
Now, one of the Stormcloaks wanted to talk to her here. That was probably not a good idea, seeing as just being here made her anger flare. Still, she never was oneto turn down a potential challenge, verbal or physical.

"You didn't say anything." The dark elven knight said to the sky. "You departed from this world without even a sound....."
She sat on the old headsman's block, still covered in the dried blood of executed prisoners: Stormcloaks, a horse thief........and Abeilya, her eldest sister who met her end on this vary spot so long ago.
Her red eyes stared up at the cloudy blue sky of Falkreach. She had returned to this place once again to meet the Legate S'kvari; The Legion's khajiit dragonborn. She had already met the legate before, For she was the legate who was present when her sister was killed.
The agony of it was still crisp in her memory. Her sister was punished for "Aiding and abetting a murderer." the truth behind these charges were far more convoluted. The sound of the axe coming down hard on the blood-drenched wood still echoed in her mind.
Ivirya leaned forward with her sword gripped tightly in her hand, Glancing over at the figure in the distance near what use to be Helgen keep.
The figure soon began to take shape as it approached. Clearly a women......with a tail. "It's her, no question." she thought to herself.
The knight looked at her unarmed hand, which then clinched into a fist. tears rolled down her gray white cheeks as she stood upright. She turned around to the block and stared down at it. after a few seconds she pulled a single rose from her pack and placed it upon the block. "(Azura keep you.....dear sister)" she said in her native tongue.
She looked at the rose, then at the legate, then at the sky and said in a calm tone: "Do you see this? the injustice? the cruelty? of course you do.....and you did nothing. When i think of Titus mede II.....of the empire.....of the legion.....this is what i see. now i ask you, 'Legate' S'kvari. when you think of the empire.....what do you see? what do you see when you look at this?"

In a calm, anger laced tone, the Legate replied, "The Talos-forsaken Empire now? Or the one me and my brothers and sisters at arms are striving to make it? My General and Ulfric are both fools. All this useless bloodshed, pointless executions, worthless hatred. It all means nothing in the end. We all meet the same fate, regardless of who does what." S'kvari paused for a second, looking over the destruction of Helgan.
"This was unjust. I would have killed my General for it if I hadn't though it would have disgraced my foster parents. But that execution isn't the only think that went on here. Stormcloaks and Legionaries alike... So close-mined, so naive, so stupid. Have you come to tell me I'm wrong? Have you come to tell me what I could have done? If so, then leave. I don't wish to quarrel with you on this ruined site. Unless you've come to try and change something, get out of my site."

"You have no right to command me, legion. not after what happened the last time we stood here." she said as she turned to the khajiit, wiping the tears from her eyes. "and it's interesting that you would use term 'Naive' in reference to both the legion and my stormcloak brethren. You honestly think you can 'change' the empire? this has nothing to do with your talos or the thalmor or even skyrim. this is nothing more then standard procedure for the empire and it's legion..... the same one they have used for hundreds upon hundreds of years. you needn't look further then my people's ancestral homeland..... or lack there of."
Ivirya crossed her arms as she stared at her feet. "Morrowind was once as beautiful and noble as this land of nords. just not enough to keep the empire's greed at bay. Have you ever been to Ald'run, Legate S'kvari? no. and you never will. you may thank your empire for that as well."
The knight jabbed her finger at the khajiit. "it can't be a coincidence that Vvardenfell erupted after years of having it being raped by the empire and it's mines!. and now, they would do the same with skyrim. robbing of it's resources while it's native people suffer and die!"
Ivy's finger curled back into her fist. "your goal is noble, S'kvari. but it too is naive. the empire, talos or not, is still the empire."
Ivirya stood right in front of the dovahkiin. looking her straight in her purple eyes. "You do feel remorse..... i can tell..... and i appreciate this..... but how can you look at all this carnage and say with certainty that the empire can change when it clearly can not?"

"You don't know what I'm capable of, so don't sit here and tell me what I can and can't do." S'kvari growled, looking straight into the knight's eyes. "I was born here in Skyrim. I am as much a native to this fucking land as any Nord. I know what my country needs, and your rebellion and the fucking Thalmor ain't it. Once I help stop the Stormcloak uprising FAIRLY, Those damn Elves are next."
She stopped, ears back, and looked away. "I lost brothers and sisters here, just like you. I lost my fucking mother here. I know what I need to do. And I WILL do it, no matter the cost. Alduin will fall to Grim, Wilhelm and I, this stupid war will be stopped, and those Aldmeri fucktards will die. You telling me that I can't only makes me want to prove you wrong."

"I am sorry for your mother..." Ivirya said with bitterness. "...But don't you dare compare the fate of her and your legion comrades to the fate of my sister! both your mother and your brethren know the risks they were taking when they joined the legion. As does any soldier. Granted, to die at the hands of Alduin, of all things, was more then likely not what they, nor anyone, could have expected. However they were still willing to die for oaths that they swore. Misguided as they were."

"And you think that the oath you took with Ulfric meant nothing?!" The Legate returned. "Did you not put everything you felt into your oath as a Stormcloak? I was there when one of your brothers was sworn in. Your oath is no different from mine other than the fact that you are Stormcloak and I am Legion."
The Khajiit looked at the chopping block, then back at the knight. "Would you not give your life for your cause? Or are you a cowards? You say that we, the legion, have wronged you, and maybe we have. What are you going to do to change it? More needless bloodshed and hatred?"

"Are you calling me a coward?!?" Ivirya growled at the legate.

"No. I simply asked if you were." S'Kvari snorted. "Do you truly wish to uphold the honor you swear to have? Or is it nothing more than a front?"

"HOW DARE YOU-" Ivirya began to shout before stopping herself. She wanted to slap the legate for what she said. Instead, In as calm a voice as she could muster, She calmly crossed her arms and asked in a polite tone: "Is that a challenge?"

"Nope." Came a simple answer. "Do you want it to be?" It was obvious that the cat wasn't scared, she just didn't want to fight the other woman right now.

Ivirya walked past the khajiit, Glaring her in the eye, and walked over to the body of the slain bandit. She looked at the body, then at her own sword. Then without warning she turned and ran the khajiit through with her sword.
Shocked, The legate stumbled backwards, The sword buried in her stomach up the hilt. Her hands gripped around the pommel. Ivirya wrapped her other arm around the legate, holding her upright.
"You feel this, Legate S'kvari?" she began with tears rolling down her face once more. "This is what i feel every. single. day..... I see her face in my dreams, S'kvari. Every time i close my eyes, Every time i fired an arrow, Every time i killed a legionnaire, I see her face!"
Ivirya pulled her sword from the dovahkiin's gut. the legate fell upon the earth on her back. She looked up at Ivirya, hands gripping her wound, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. it was quite clear she was dying. The knight pointed her sword at the dragonborn, the blade inches away from the Khajiit's nose.
"I am Stormblade!" she said. "soldier for the cause, warrior of Jarl Ulfric, knight of House Redoran!"
Ivirya lowered her sword and walked over to the legate, wiping the blood from her blade with a cloth. She knelt next to her. "You never answered me" she whispered in her ear. "What do you see when you think of the empire?"
